Age
18 Years to 99 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Ambulatory adult subjects aged 18-50 years, normotensives and untreated hypertensives (Stage 1 primary hypertension SBP/DBP 140-159/90-99), with high/low-normal CK, matched for body mass index.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: BMI>/= 30 kg/m2, CK not in the lowest or highest population tertile; glucose, lipid spectrum, thyroid, kidney, or liver abnormalities, treated, stage 2 (SBP *160 or DBP *100), or secondary hypertension, (history of) cardiovascular disease including TIA and stroke; CK-increasing drugs including statins; neuromuscular or endocrine disorders; vasculitis; HIV infection; infectious hepatitis; bleeding disorders.
