18 Years to 99 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Flight attendants with cognitive complaints as determined by Nederlands Centrum voor Beroepsziekten (NCvB), aged between 35 and 50 years (M/F). Control group: healthy volunteers, aged between 35 and 50 years, who have attended less than 1-2 flights lifetime (M/V).

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: A history of neuropsychiatric disease, alcohol abuse. Contraindications for MRI (e.g. osteosynthetic material, pacemaker, artificial cardiac valves); claustrophobia.

Design outcomes

MeasureTime frame
Differences between both groups in: NPO (cognition, depression and anxiety). MRI outcome: brain volume, neurometabolites (Cho/Cr, NAA/Cr), white matter integrity (FA), brain perfusion (CBF), and difference in brain activation during an executive functioning task measuring planning abilities (Tower of London) and a paired associates task measuring episodic memory.
