Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients: • Male and female patients with severe unilateral hip OA, planned for THA; • >= 40 years and = 40 years and

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients: • Male and female patients with severe bilateral hip OA; • = 65 years of age; • Any disease or musculoskeletal condition interfering with daily physical activity, except hip OA for which THA is planned.;Healthy controls: • Male or female persons who cannot perform normal daily physical activities without any restriction or pain; • = 65 years of age;

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Possible significant difference in daily PA, expressed as mean daily EE, in 40-65 years old patients with severe hip OA compared with matched healthy controls.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
• Possible differences between the proportion THA patients who meet with the national recommendations on the minimum required amount of PA for a healthy lifestyle, and the proportion healthy controls who meet these recommendations. • Possible differences between objectively measured amount of PA with subjectively obtained amount of PA.
