Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: -Rheumatoide arthritis; "American College of Rheumatology criteria for RA" -disease duration of 10-15 year -informed consent

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Rheumatoid arthritis patients: -Pregnancy -Diabetes mellitus (fasting blood glucose * 7.0 mmol/L) -Renal impairment (serum creatinine *:140 *mol/L) -Recent Surgery -Myocardial infarction (MI) or sepsis in the past three months;Healthy age and sex matched controls: -Pregnancy -Diabetes mellitus (fasting blood glucose * 7.0 mmol/L) -Renal impairment (serum creatinine *:140 *mol/L) -Recent Surgery -MI or sepsis in the past three months
