Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: We are looking for volunteers who are living at hot spots in the cities Amsterdam, Den Bosch, the Hague and Utrecht; volunteers with a comparable age and social economic status distribution who are living at streets which are not influenced by the intervention at the hot spot but is located in the environmental zoning in the same cities and Tilburg; volunteers in the neigbourhood of the selected cities.

Exclusion criteria: Children below 3 years of age will be excluded from this study Insufficient knowledge Dutch language

| Exposure to air pollution (fine particulate matter and components of this, oxidative potential) will be measured before and after the implementation of the intervention at each selected location. Lungfunction (spirometry), lung resistance, measure of exhaled NO will be performed in all volunteers before and after the intervention within a time period of 1-3 years between the health measurements, depending on the actual implementation time of the policy measure. Also the volunteers will be asked to fill in a questionnaire. After that, the relation between changes in air pollution and changes in health will be analysed with regression analysis. | — |
