Age
18 Years to 99 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Being enlisted voor AF ablation with cryo-energy or radiofrequenty energy (control group). These are symptomatic patients with persistent AF, in which at least 1 anti-arrhythmicum failed to control AF. 2. The patient is willing and able to comply with the protocol and has provided written informed consent. 3. Age >/= 18 years

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Known pathology of the esophagus (history of esophagal surgery, radiation or cautic lesions) 2. Redo AF-procedures
