Interventions
Patients in the preventive group will receive (depending on duration of
therapy: 24 vs. 48 weeks) 7 to 9 consultations or preparation time according to
Dutch guidelines concerning malnutrition, and

Age
18 Years to 99 Years
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: • Diagnosis of hepatitis C • Indication for antiviral treatment with peginterferon in combination with ribavirin • Not yet started with aniviral treatment • Age > 18 years • Good understanding of Dutch or English language • Informed consent
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: • Co-infection with hepatitis B and/or HIV • Significant non hepatic diseases such as decompensated heart, respiratory or renal failure • Crohns disease or colitis ulcerosa • Significant previous surgery of the gastro-intestinal tract • Hepatocellular carcinoma or other current malignant disease • BMI
