Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Eligible for inclusion are patients with acute first stroke. Ischemic stroke is defined as a clinical syndrome of rapid onset of a non-convulsive and focal or global neurological cerebral deficit with a vascular cause persisting for >24 hours without signs of a cerebral hemorrhage on computed tomography (CT) scan. Subjects, or a direct relative, will receive verbal and written explanation of the objectives and techniques of measurements and risks associated with the study. Written informed consent will be provided in accordance with the Helsinki Declaration.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Patients are considered not eligible in case of diminished consciousness (Glasgow Coma Scale 70%) or second stroke.
