Interventions

in a cross-over design all patients will receive 3 weeks treatment with atorvastatin 80mg daily or placebo. Sympathetic acitivity will be measured after each treatment period (3 weeks and 6 weeks),

Age

18 Years to 99 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: - Age 18-70 years - Body mass index 18-35 kg/m2 - hypertension (see protocol)

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - renal disease - recent MI/CVA - diabete - diseases of the autonomic nervous system - any other severe medical condition on the basis of the medical history and a careful physical examination before the study.
