Age
18 Years to 99 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: For all participants: - 18 years and older - treatment for non-seminomatous testicular cancer between 1977 and 1996 - age of 50 years or younger at start of initial treatment - at least 5 years after treatment;For cases: - diagnosis of a major cardiac event (myocardial infarction or proven coronary artery disease) at least 5 years after treatment for testicular cancer

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: For all participants: - treatment with mediastinal radiotherapy;For controls: - no diagnosis of a major cardiac event (myocardial infarction or proven coronary artery disease) after treatment for testicular cancer

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The primary study parameters consist of cardiovascular risk factors that are evaluated by physical examination and analysis of blood and urine. Examples are obesity, hypertension, hypercholesterolaemia and albuminuria.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
The secondary study parameters consist of genetic polymorphisms that are potentially involved in long-term cardiovascular toxicity following treatment for testicular cancer. In addition, quality of life following treatment for testicular cancer will be assessed by means of a questionnaire.
