Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Right-handed; 2. Female; 3. Age between 18 and 35 years of age at the day of screening; 4. Diagnosed with AN or ED-NOS (as defined by the DSM IV criteria); 5. A BMI below 17.5 kg/m2.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Having a history of or current excessive alcohol consumption (> 28 units per week); 2. Having a drug dependency; 3. Smoking daily; 4. Contra-indications to MRI scanning on the basis of the MRI screening form, including: A. Claustrophobia; B. Metal objects in the body incompatible with MRI scanning; C. Having a history of medical or surgical events that may significantly affect the study outcome, such as brain surgery.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
1. Emotionality and vividness ratings; 2. Neural activation (BOLD signal change) in response to memory recall.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Cognitive functioning (working memory capacity as measured with the n-back test, set shifting as measured with the WSCT, central coherence as measured with the RCFT and decision making as measured with the IGT).
