Conditions

foot structure, foot complaints, plantar pressure distribution, peak pressure, center of pressure

Interventions

specifically ball circumference as a primary outcome measure. Foot structure of 168 female, healthy participants in seven age-groups will be determined (N = 24 in each group
20-25, 30-35, 40-45, 50-55, 60-65, 70-75 and 80-85 years). Foot structure (ball circumference) will be determined using a tape measure and sliding calliper, and in addition a 3D scanning system (Rodin

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: - Being Caucasian female - Aged between 20 and 85 years old

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - Sicknesses that have a major influence on gait, such as stroke and Parkinson’s disease, - Amputation at the level of hip, knee, ankle or foot, - Ccurrent use of orthopedic footwear and - The self-reported inability to walk without a walking aid for more than 10 meters.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The primary outcome measure for foot structure is ball circumference

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Secondary outcome measures include: -Other foot structure variables: ball width, lower instep circumference, high instep circumference and heel-instep circumference - Foot complaints: incidence, location, character of the complaint(s) - Plantar pressure distribution variables: peak pressure, mean pressure, contact area, force-time integral - Center of pressure variables: location of COP, RMS in AP and ML direction, total sway path,
