Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: The departments of Oncology/Hematology and Lung diseases of the Maasstad Hospital participate in the study. Patients over 18 years of age, who died of an oncological disease and that were known at the outpatient clinic and/or clinic of the relevant sections are included.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: The patients who were referred to another hospital for further treatment and/or guidance of the disease are excluded in the study.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Percentage of patients with underlying malignancy who died outside the hospital.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1) average number of days in hospital in the last 3 months of life 2) A. Percentage of patients of whom the start of the palliative phase has been marked ('bad-news'-interview) B. Percentage of patients of whom treatment restrictions has been reported C. Percentage of patients preference 'where to die' has been reported 3) Percentage contact physician/nursing home physician in the last phase of life and after death. 4) A. Percentage of patients who underwent a systemic anti-tumor treatment (chemotherapy) in the last 3 months of life B. Percentage of patients with interventions (diagnostic / treatment) in the last 3 months of life 5) Quality of life and quality of care in the palliative terminal phase of the patient from the point of view of the survivors 6) Percentage patients where a pain-team / spiritual counselor / psychologist /social worker was involved in the last 3 months of life
