Depressive disorders

Interventions

Mild to moderate depression (HDRS score 14-24): Short-term Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or Short-term Psychoanalytical Supportive Psychotherapy, 16 sessions of 45 minutes, during 22 weeks. Severe de
psychotherapy as mentioned above in combination with antidepressants.

Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Main diagnose Major Depressive Episode, Major Depressive Disorder, Dysthymic Disorder or Depressive Disorder NOS according to DSM-IV criteria, Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HDRS) score > 14, age 18-65, written informed consent.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Bipolar Disorder, Depressive disorder with psychotic features, suicide risk, loss of impulse-control, use of anti-depressants, use of anti-psychotics or mood stabilizers, substance abuse, language problems, contact with same Mentrum location within last 6 months.

Depressive complaints according to patient, therapist and independent rater at week 5, 10, 22 and 52.
