Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients were selected for the study on the basis of the following inclusion criteria: 1. Diagnosis of type 2 diabetes for < 6 months before enrollment; 2. Diagnosis of impaired glucose tolerance for < 6 months before enrollment.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients who had thyroid disorders, or used insulin, oral hypoglycemics, insulin-sensitizing drugs, and â-blockers within 60 days before enrollment were excluded.
