Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Aged 18-65 years; 2. Participating in Start-to-Run program organized by the Dutch Athletics Federation.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Contraindications for vigorous physical activities according to the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) guidelines.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
1. Occurrence of a running related injury (RRI); 2. Incidence of RRI.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
1. Demographic and anthropometric data; 2. Physical and mental health status; 3. Physical activity level; 4. Previous physical activities; 5. Medical history; 6. Motivation for exercise; 7. In case of an RRI, data on absence and treatment will be collected. The secondary outcomes will be measured with a baseline questionnaire and four follow-up questionnaires at 6, 12, 26 and 52 weeks.
