Brief summary

This study will use an experimental quantitative research design. Participants will serve as their own control with a metabolic assessment by open circuit spirometry when walking on the Alter G treadmill for less than ten minutes per trial at 3 mph while supporting their entire body mass. Randomly assigned trials at 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% of body mass will be conducted under steady state conditions. All trials will be conducted in one session.

Interventions

OTHERAlterG Treadmill

Participants will walk on an AlterG Treadmill for less than ten minutes per trial at 3 mph while supporting their entire body mass. The randomly assigned trials will be completed at 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% of body mass under steady-state conditions.

Conducted using a Parvo Medics TrueOne 2400 metabolic cart and standard heart rate monitor, one way valve mouthpiece, and nose clip.
