Plantar fasciitis is described as a chronic degenerative process at the origin of the strong, fibrous band running at the bottom of feet connecting bones of heel to toes and supporting arch of feet known as plantar fascia and this irritation of fascia leads to medial plantar heel pain .This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of k-taping as compared to lower limb stretching techniques in patients suffering from plantar fasciitis

Detailed description

Plantar fasciitis is described as a chronic degenerative process at the origin of the strong, fibrous band running at the bottom of feet connecting bones of heel to toes and supporting arch of feet known as plantar fascia and this irritation of fascia leads to medial plantar heel pain Literature has shown improvement of plantar fasciitis within 10 months of performing simple treatment methods (viz. rest, icing, stretching, physical therapy management, shoe inserts or orthotics.) in more than 90% of the affected population.However, the aforementioned treatment methods may not provide adequate relief for all the patients. In view of this, there is growing evidence regarding the effectiveness of a relatively newer technique involving the use of a specialized tape to treat musculoskeletal disorders referred to as Kinesiology taping (K-taping) .Hence, this study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of k-taping as compared to lower limb stretching techniques in patients suffering from plantar fasciitis, primary aim being to address the gap in literature and to provide valuable insights for healthcare professionals as an evidence-based treatment protocol in the future management of Plantar fasciitis.

Interventions

OTHERKinesiotaping intervention

the patient lie on their back with the affected foot off the end of the bed and dorsiflex the ankle and straighten the toes to stretch the plantar fascia. When taping the plantar surface, apply little to no tension at the ends of the strip of K-tape and moderate to gentle tension between the ends of the tape. Rub the tape to activate the adhesive and eliminate wrinkles.

OTHERLower limb stretching exercises

stretching in plantar fasciitis, stretch out the gastrocnemius, soleus and hamstrings of the lower leg. Stand the patient with the affected leg extended behind him/her, knee straight and heel on floor, and bend him/her forward over the gastrocnemius. For soleus, same position with a slight bend in affected knee and leaning forward. To stretch hamstrings, place the patient supine (face down), flex the hip and straighten the knee, then slowly pull the leg up until a stretch is felt. Each stretch should be held for 20-30 seconds and repeated 2-3 times, but not to cause pain.

* Age group: 30-60 * Gender: All gender * Phase : Both (Acute subacute and chronic) * Type of Patient: outdoor Patients

Exclusion criteria

* Other conditions like Diabetic foot, calcaneal stress fracture, neuropathy ,Achilles tendinopathy, rheumatoid arthritis, * Age : below 30 and above 60 years of age * Type of Patient: Indoor patients
