Brief summary
Orthodontic treatment often requires prolonged periods to achieve desired tooth movements, particularly in procedures like canine retraction. Traditional orthodontic brackets, while effective in aligning teeth, are limited by frictional resistance between the brackets and archwires, which can slow down the tooth movement process. This extended treatment time not only increases the discomfort and inconvenience for patients but also raises the risk of complications, including enamel decalcification, root resorption, and periodontal issues. Recent advancements in nanotechnology have introduced the possibility of nanoparticle coatings, which may reduce friction and improve the efficiency of tooth movement. However, there is limited clinical evidence on the effectiveness of nanoparticle-coated brackets in enhancing the rate of orthodontic tooth movement, particularly in canine retraction. Additionally, while laboratory studies suggest benefits, there is a lack of randomized clinical trials to validate these findings in real-world orthodontic settings. This study aims to address this gap by investigating the effect of nanoparticle coating on the rate of canine retraction using a randomized clinical trial design. The findings could potentially offer insights into whether nanoparticle-coated brackets present a viable option to enhance treatment efficiency and improve patient outcomes in orthodontics.
Interventions
Bonding of nanoparticle coated maxillary canine bracket Canine retraction Digital model will be taken every one month (T0, initial; T1, 4 weeks; T2, 8 weeks; T3, 12 weeks) to compare the rate of canine retraction.

Inclusion criteria
1. Patients aged 13 to 30 years. 2. Treatment plan requiring extraction of both upper first premolars. 3. Anterior teeth protrusion necessitating canine retraction. 4. No previous orthodontic treatment. 5. No systemic diseases. 6. Not taking routinely used drugs. 7. Good oral hygiene. 8. No extractions required other than the specified upper first premolars.
Exclusion criteria
1. Poor oral hygiene. 2. Previous orthodontic treatment. 3. Patients with active periodontal disease. 4. Presence of any craniofacial syndromes.
