Burnout, Healthcare Workers, Workplace Violence
Conditions
Brief summary
The goal of this observational study is to learn about burnout and workplace violence among frontline clinicians working in Home Hospital programs compared with traditional brick-and-mortar hospitals. The main questions it aims to answer are: 1. Do Home Hospital clinicians experience different levels of burnout than clinicians working in traditional inpatient hospital settings? 2. Do Home Hospital clinicians experience different rates of workplace violence and harassment than clinicians working in traditional inpatient hospital settings? Researchers will compare clinicians working primarily in Home Hospital settings with clinicians working primarily in brick-and-mortar hospitals to assess differences in burnout, workplace safety, and work experience. Participants will: * Complete a one-time anonymous online survey through REDCap. * Answer questions about their demographic and professional background. * Complete validated questionnaires assessing burnout, workplace safety culture, and experiences with workplace violence or harassment. * Provide optional free-text feedback about their work experience.

Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Mini Z Burnout Score | Baseline (at time of survey completion; single time point) | Burnout will be assessed using the single-item burnout measure from the Mini Z. Responses range from 1 to 5, with higher scores indicating greater burnout. |
| % reporting physical or verbal violence at work | Baseline (at time of survey completion; single time point) | Percentage of participants who report ever experiencing physical or verbal violence while working in their particular unit. Participants will indicate whether they have experienced physical violence, verbal violence, or both in that unit. The outcome will be reported as the percentage of participants reporting any physical or verbal violence, with a higher percentage indicating a worse outcome. |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Net promoter score | Baseline (at time of survey completion; single time point) | Net Promoter Score measures participants' likelihood of recommending the program or service. Participants rate their likelihood of recommending it from 0 (not at all likely) to 10 (extremely likely). Respondents are classified as detractors (0-6), passives (7-8), or promoters (9-10). Net Promoter Score is calculated as the percentage of promoters minus the percentage of detractors and ranges from -100 to 100. Higher scores indicate a better outcome. |
