Brief summary

analyze the clinical characteristics and prognostic factors in patients with meningitis at Sohag Governorate .This is an ambidirectional (retrospective and prospective), hospital-based observational study. The study involves a retrospective review of patient records over the past 3 years, combined with a prospective recruitment of new patients for one year from the initiation of the study

Inclusion criteria

* All patients diagnosed with meningitis admitted to Sohag Fever Hospital during the study period. * Patients of all age groups and both sexes. * Patients with confirmed diagnosis based on clinical features and CSF analysis.

Exclusion criteria

* Patients with incomplete medical records. * Patients with uncertain diagnosis of meningitis. * Patients discharged against medical advice before completion of evaluation.

Primary

All-cause in-hospital mortality	From hospital admission until hospital discharge, up to 30 days.	Death from any cause occurring during hospitalization, reported as the number and percentage of participants who died during hospital admission.

Secondary

Recovery without neurological sequelae at hospital discharge	From hospital admission until hospital discharge, up to 30 days.	Number and percentage of participants who recover from meningitis without documented neurological sequelae at hospital discharge.
Neurological sequelae at hospital discharge	From hospital admission until hospital discharge, up to 30 days.	Number and percentage of participants with documented neurological sequelae related to meningitis at hospital discharge.
In-hospital complications	From hospital admission until hospital discharge, up to 30 days.	Number and percentage of participants who develop complications during hospitalization, with the type of complication recorded.
