Brief summary

The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of a commercially available mobile exercise application on performance-related physical fitness outcomes and selected health indicators in healthy young adults. A total of 78 participants are randomly assigned to a conventional exercise group (n = 26), a mobile application-based exercise group (n = 26), or a control group (n = 26). Both intervention groups complete an identical six-week high-intensity interval training (HIIT) program, either supervised or delivered via the 7-Minute Workout® mobile application. The control group receives no intervention. Pre- and post-intervention assessments include muscular endurance (curl-ups, push-ups), lower extremity anaerobic power (vertical jump), and hamstring and lower back flexibility (sit-and-reach), as well as self-reported sleep quality (Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index) and pain (Visual Analog Scale).

Interventions

BEHAVIORALExercise

The experimental group will utilize the official "7-Minute Workout®" mobile application, developed by the Johnson \& Johnson Human Performance Institute. Based on High-Intensity Circuit Training (HICT) and High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) principles, the program consists of 12 alternating bodyweight exercises targeting major muscle groups. Each exercise is performed for 30 seconds, followed by a 10-second rest period. The routine combines aerobic and resistance exercises and includes a 2-minute warm-up and a 3-minute cool-down phase. The app is freely accessible on both Android and iOS platforms.

OTHERConventional Exercise

As described in the American College of Sports Medicine's Health \& Fitness Journal, the core workout consists of 12 bodyweight exercises alternating between major muscle groups. Each exercise is performed for 30 seconds, followed by a 10-second rest period. The training protocol was provided to the participants in a written/text format, containing comprehensive and detailed instructions for each movement. The program includes the following optional warm-up and cool-down protocols: Warm-up exercises (\~2 minutes): Shoulder rolls, arm hugs, standing knee pulls, and standing trunk rotations. Cool-down exercises (\~3 minutes): Seated posterior leg stretches, quadriceps stretches using chair support, arm flexion (upward, forward, and backward), and posterior arm stretches.

Inclusion criteria

* Being a university student enrolled in the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Faculty of Health Sciences * Being a healthy individual

Exclusion criteria

* Having undergone any surgical procedure within the last 6 months * Regularly using medication * Having any chronic disease * Inability to continue the program throughout the study period.
