Inclusion criteria
* treatment-naïve patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS), who fulfilled the Assessment of Spondylarthritis Society (ASAS) criteria for axial spondyloarthritis (ax-SpA) * Inclusion criterion for the second group (non-AS individuals) was patients complaining of discomfort upon activity.
