Brief summary
This research aims to examine the effect of scenario-based first aid training on accidents and injuries given to middle school students on their first aid knowledge and skills. The research will be conducted using a pre-test-post-test single-group quasi-experimental design. The study will be carried out with 7th grade students (n=68) studying at Mehmet Akif Ersoy Middle School in Eğirdir district of Isparta province, Turkey.
Detailed description
Today, preventable injuries in childhood, such as accidents at home, school, and in traffic, are a significant public health problem. Acquiring first aid knowledge and skills at an early age is critically important for mitigating the consequences of accidents at both individual and societal levels.Data will be collected through a Descriptive Information Form, an Accident and Injury First Aid Training Knowledge Assessment Form, and a First Aid Skills Checklist. The training program consists of four sessions: two theoretical training sessions, a scenario-based application session, and an analysis session. Data will be analyzed using SPSS 25.0 program, and the significance level will be accepted as p\<0.05.

The training program will consist of four sessions; the first two sessions will consist of a theoretical presentation enriched with visual content, the third session will involve interactive scenario-based applications with students, and the fourth session will focus on analysis after the scenario application.

* Being enrolled in the 7th grade at Mehmet Akif Ersoy Middle School * Attending all training sessions * Obtaining informed consent from the student and parent to participate in the research
Exclusion criteria
* Wishing to withdraw from the study at any stage * Not having attended any of the training sessions

| First aid information for accidents and injuries | 1 month | Due to the lack of a standardized scale in the literature to measure the level of first aid knowledge of middle school students in accidents and injuries, the First Aid Questionnaire prepared by the First Aid Instructor Training Center of the Ministry of National Education was used, and a knowledge assessment form consisting of 25 multiple-choice questions was prepared by the researchers, taking into consideration the subject and purpose of the research. The questions in this form will be scored according to the number of correct answers, and the knowledge levels will be categorized as weak, acceptable, good, or excellent. Each question in the knowledge form has an equal score (4 points) and is scored out of 100. Accordingly, those scoring between 0-40 points will be considered weak, 40-60 points acceptable, 60-80 points good, and 80-100 points excellent. |
| First aid skills in accidents and injuries | 1 month | To assess students' performance in the skills expected of them within the scenario, researchers prepared a skills checklist. Each step of the skill is graded from 1 to 3 (insufficient=1, partially sufficient=2, sufficient=3), and the total score for each skill will be evaluated. The 20-question skills checklist will be graded out of 100 points; students who can complete at least 70% of the steps in the skill list will be considered proficient in that task. |
