Conditions

Parent Child Relationship

Brief summary

We are testing whether different communication methods including use of technology can affect relationship satisfaction and well-being in a parent-child relationship. We believe that those who regularly use a chatbot with communication will improve relationship satisfaction in their familial relationship.

Detailed description

Participants will be randomized into one of two groups and will meet online with the study team for instructions. Group 1 will be asked to use an AI chatbot when they are having an argument or serious discussion about something with their parent or child. Group 2 will be asked to try and take a step back/break before having an argument or serious discussion about something with their parent or child. The intervention group will be encouraged to use the chatbot at least once a week while the control group will be encouraged to take a step back at least once a week. At the end of the 4 weeks participants will receive a follow-up survey.
