Inclusion criteria
1. patients requiring total thyroidectomy. 2. age between 18-75 years old 3. both gender 4. no co-existing disease.
Exclusion criteria
1\. previous hemithyroidectomy, lobectomy, resection of the parathyroid gland. 2. 2. patients with missing laboratory data, previous subtotal thyroidectomy. 3\. diagnosed pathology of the parathyroid gland
