Detailed description

This study will be conducted as a randomized controlled experimental study to determine the effect of nursing process teaching in the metaverse environment on the instructional materials motivation and academic achievement of nursing students. The nursing process course will be conducted in a metaverse environment. A virtual classroom is designed in the metaverse space for the execution of this course. This study will be conducted from March 2023 to April 2023 in the nursing department of a university. The sample consisted of 42 students who volunteered to participate in the research and met the inclusion criteria. Scales and Forms to be used in the Study; Personal Information Form, The Instructional Materials Motivation Scale, and Academic Success Assessment (Quiz). With the simple randomization method, students will be assigned to the experimental and control groups. But students will not know which group is the experimental group.

MeasureTime frameDescription
Personal Information Formone weekThis form was prepared by the researchers to determine some sociodemographic characteristics of the participating students. The form consists of 6 questions regarding characteristics of the students' such as age, gender, and graduated high school.
The Instructional Materials Motivation Scale3 weeksInvestigators uses the five-point Likert scale: strongly agree, agree, neutral, disagree, and strongly disagree. The original IMMS consisted of 36 questions and four dimensions (attention, relevance, confidence, and satisfaction). The Cronbach's α of the overall questionnaire is 0.96 and the Cronbach's α for each of the sub-dimensions ranges between 0.81 and 0.92. A Turkish version of IMMS was constructed from 24-items.
Academic Success Assessment (Quiz)3 weeksIt is a 16 multiple-choice exam created by the researcher to measure the success of the students in the Nursing Process course. This exam lasted 18 minutes. Each question is worth 6.25 points.
