Inclusion criteria
* adult cardiac arrest patient with arterial pH \<7.1 or bicarbonate \<10mmEq/L checked at 10 minutes of cardiopulmonary resuscitation
Exclusion criteria
* age \<18 trauma patient Do Not Resuscitate state
