Inclusion criteria

* Age 18- 85 years * Patients with severe degenerative mitral regurgitation undergoing mitral valve repair at our institution

Exclusion criteria

* Functional or ischemic mitral regurgitation * Presence of relevant (symptomatic) Coronary Artery Disease * Inability of exercising on semi supine bicycle
