Inclusion criteria

* Current diagnosis of community-acquired pneumonia. * Evidence of systemic inflammatory response to infection.

Exclusion criteria

* Atypical or viral pneumonia based on clinical or epidemiologic suspicion by the investigator. * Presence of organ failure.
