Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Nursing students aged 19 years or older who are enrolled in the third or fourth year at S University at the time of participation 2. Students who have completed fundamental nursing theory and practicum courses 3. Students with clinical practicum experience and a basic understanding of preoperative nursing care 4. Students who are able to communicate in Korean and use a generative artificial intelligence-based digital learning environment 5. Students who understand the purpose and procedures of the study and voluntarily provide written informed consent

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Students who have previously participated in a generative artificial intelligence-based patient role-play or communication simulation program 2. Students who are unable to participate in the digital communication simulation or communication performance assessment because of hearing, speech, or visual limitations 3. Students who plan to participate in another communication-related educational program during the study period 4. Students who report in advance that they are unable to participate in all three assessments at baseline, immediately after the intervention, and four weeks after the intervention
