No history of traumatic brain injury, brain tumor, stroke, epilepsy, neuroinflammatory disease, metabolic encephalopathy, neurodegenerative disease, or cardiovascular disease 3. Not taking medications affecting autonomic responses (e.g., sympathomimetics, anticholinergics) 4. Provided voluntary written informed consent
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: 1. Inadequate transtemporal acoustic window precluding transcranial doppler signal acquisition 2. Inability to maintain measurements 3. Occurrence of adverse events during the Valsalva test (vasovagal syncope, arrhythmia, or chest pain)
Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| Correlation coefficients between VMOI and conventional cerebral autoregulation (CA) indices: mean flow index, systolic flow index, diastolic flow index, transfer function analysis gain/phase (very low and low frequency bands), autoregulation index, Valsalva maneuver autoregulatory index, and autoregulation slope index | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| Association between VMOI and conventional CA indices after adjustment for demographic characteristics (multivariable linear regression) | — |
