Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Hospitalized children aged 3 to 10 years Children undergoing peripheral venipuncture using a 24-gauge intravenous catheter Children who had not undergone any pain-inducing treatment, test, procedure, or surgery before venipuncture on the day of study participation Children without intellectual or developmental disabilities and able to communicate Children whose legal guardian provided written informed consent and who provided verbal or written assent according to their age and developmental level

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Children who were taking analgesics or receiving other pain management interventions on the day of study participation Children who reported pain on the day of study participation Children with a history of hypersensitivity to cold therapy Children with skin disease, inflammatory reactions, or circulatory disorders Children taking psychotropic medications that could affect pain Children whose venipuncture was not successful on the first attempt Children whose pulse rate or oxygen saturation was outside the normal range
