Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: This study was conducted at a tertiary care university hospital with 1,000 beds. Registered nurses with at least six months of experience in units where routine clinical hand hygiene is performed were eligible.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Participants were required to be free of open wounds or hypersensitive skin on their hands and have no history of allergy to alcohol-based hand rubs (ABHR). Nurses who had previously used HandInScan® (HandInScan Kft., Hungary) or participated in a hand hygiene–related study within the past six months were excluded. Nurses performing surgical hand rubbing in operating rooms were also excluded, as these procedures differ from routine clinical hand hygiene.
