Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Older adults aged 65 or older who use the Hwaseong City Southern Senior Welfare Center. 2. No current diagnosis of dementia and not taking psychiatric medications for psychiatric symptoms. 3. Able to read and understand questionnaires, provide responses, and engage in basic communication. 4. Able to understand the purpose and procedures of the study and to provide voluntary informed consent. 5. Physically capable of participating in a small-horse interaction program and with no history of animal allergies.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Score = 8 on the Short-Form Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS-SF). 2. Currently participating in a cognitive rehabilitation program during the study period. 3. Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) cognitive function score below 24.
