Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Research participants are students enrolled in Korea's nursing colleges who understand the purpose of this study and voluntarily consent to participate. Furthermore, they must be able to participate in the entire educational program designed for this study (for the pilot study, participants must be able to participate in one simulation scenario developed for this study). Group interviews conducted immediately after participation in the integrated nursing education program utilizing multi-user virtual space simulations utilizing realistic media and high-fidelity virtual simulants will be conducted with applicants in the intervention group.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: A person who is not a nursing student.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Focused observation;Recognizes deviation from expected pattern;Information seeking;Prioritizing data;Making sense of the data;Calm manner;Clear communication;Well-planned intervention;Being skillful;Evaluation/self-analysis;Commit to improve;Prebriefing increased my confidence. (Prebriefing);Prebriefing was beneficial to my learning. (Prebriefing);I am better prepared to respond to changes in my patient’s condition. (Learning);I developed a better understanding of the pathophysiology. (Learning);I am more confident of my nursing assessment skills. (Learning);I felt empowered to make clinical decisions. (Learning);I developed a better understanding of medications. (Leave blank if no medications in scenario) (Learning);I had the opportunity to practice my clinical decision-making skills. (Learning);I am more confident in my ability to prioritize care and interventions. (Confidence);I am more confident in communicating with my patient. (Confidence);I am more confident in my ability to teach patients about their illness and interventions. (Confidence);I am more confident in my ability to report information to health care team. (Confidence);I am more confident in providing interventions that foster patient safety. (Confidence);I am more confident in using evidence-based practice to provide nursing care. (Confidence);Debriefing contributed to my learning. (Debriefing); Debriefing allowed me to verbalize my feelings before focusing on the scenario. (Debriefing);Debriefing was valuable in helping me improve my clinical judgment. (Debriefing);Debriefing provided opportunities to selfreflect on my performance during simulation. (Debriefing); Debriefing was a constructive evaluation of the simulation. (Debriefing)

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
In the computer generated world I had a sense of "being there";Somehow I felt that the virtual world surrounded me.;I felt like I was just perceiving pictures.;I did not feel present in the virtual space.;I had a sense of acting in the virtual space, rather than operating something from outside.;I felt present in the virtual space.;How aware were you of the real world surrounding while navigating in the virtual world? (i.e. sounds, room temperature, other people, etc.)?;I was not aware of my real environment.;I still paid attention to the real environment.;I was completely captivated by the virtual world.;How real did the virtual world seem to you?;How much did your experience in the virtual environment seem consistent with your real world experience ?;How real did the virtual world seem to you?;The virtual world seemed more realistic than the real world.
