Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Participants in this study were 21 individuals with chronic hemiplegic stroke who were either hospitalized at, or attending the outpatient clinic of, S Hospital in Cheongju, Korea. All participants received a full explanation of the study purpose and procedures and voluntarily agreed to take part. Only those who met the inclusion criteria were enrolled in the study. The specific inclusion criteria were as follows: 1) Diagnosis of stroke at least 6 months prior to enrollment 2) Ability to walk independently for at least 6 minutes, with or without an assistive device 3) No other neurological disorders or orthopedic conditions affecting the lower limbs 4) Score of 24 or higher on the Korean version of the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE-K)

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) Individuals whose initial stroke diagnosis was made less than 6 months prior 2) Individuals who have difficulty walking independently for at least 6 minutes, regardless of assistive device use, or for whom performing the 6-minute walk test is medically inappropriate due to cardiovascular or respiratory conditions 3) Individuals with additional neurological disorders such as Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, or peripheral neuropathy, or with orthopedic conditions affecting the lower limbs that may influence gait, such as fractures, joint replacement surgery, or severe degenerative arthritis 4) Individuals with severe aphasia or profound hearing impairment that makes it difficult to understand or follow the examiner’s instructions 5) Individuals with suspected cognitive impairment, defined as a score below 24 on the Korean version of the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE-K) 6) Individuals who have participated in another gait-related intervention study within the past 3 months, or who are currently engaged in additional rehabilitation programs that may interfere with this study
