Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Underwent preoperative pulmonary function testing 2. Classified as high risk for postoperative pulmonary complications according to the ARISCAT score (=51 years of age and an expected surgery duration of =2 hours) 3. Scheduled for intraoperative arterial blood pressure monitoring 4. Scheduled for elective non-thoracic surgery under general anesthesia

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Age = 50 years or = 100 years 2. Expected duration of surgery less than 2 hours 3. Anticipated absence of real-time arterial line blood pressure monitoring 4. Pregnancy 5. Obesity with a body mass index (BMI) = 35 kg/m² 6. American Society of Anesthesiologists Physical Status (ASA PS) I or = V 7. Presence of underlying pulmonary disease (e.g., obstructive lung disease, asthma, emphysema, history of lung surgery) 8. Tracheostomy state 9. Surgical position of prone or lateral decubitus 10. Presence of connective tissue disease (e.g., rheumatoid arthritis) 11. Peripheral circulatory disorders or peripheral neuropathy 12. Scheduled for thoracic surgery 13. Refusal to participate in the study
