Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Female participants aged 65 years or older who have been diagnosed with knee osteoarthritis and have been recommended exercise therapy under a physician’s guidance (diagnosed with knee osteoarthritis for more than 3 years). Individuals without congenital deformities or diseases of the foot, pelvis, or spine.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Individuals who have undergone surgery involving the knee, hip, or lower limbs within the past year. (These individuals are likely still in the process of tissue recovery or functional rehabilitation following surgery. Participation in this exercise program may interfere with recovery or cause pain; therefore, they are excluded to ensure the safety and validity of the intervention.) Individuals who experience severe pain during walking or exercise that makes it difficult to maintain daily activities. (Since the intervention requires repetitive walking movements, those with pain-induced mobility restrictions would be unable to perform the exercises effectively and are therefore excluded.) Individuals with other medical conditions deemed inappropriate for participation by the investigator. (This includes individuals diagnosed with cardiovascular or pulmonary diseases such as heart failure, angina, myocardial infarction, or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; those with moderate to severe hypertension or uncontrolled diabetes; and those currently taking antidepressants, anxiolytics, or sedatives, as these factors may affect physiological responses and safety during exercise.) Individuals who have regularly engaged in moderate or higher intensity physical activity at least three times per week during the past six months. (Regular exercise habits may have already improved neuromuscular control and balance ability, making it difficult to clearly analyze the effects of the intervention.) Individuals with progressive neurological or psychiatric disorders, such as stroke, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, or major depressive disorder. (These conditions can affect cognitive and motor responses, potentially leading to distorted results in the Y-Balance Test or during walking exercise.) Individuals showing signs of acute inflammation, such as joint swelling or heat sensation. (During the acute phase of arthritis or synovitis, exercise may exacerbate symptoms or increase the risk of tissue damage; therefore, such individuals are excluded to ensure safety.)
