Drug : Patients were randomly assigned numbers to group D (dexmedetomidine) and group S (saline) using a randomization program. Odd numbers were assigned to group D and even numbers to group S. Group

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 68 adult patients aged 40-75 years undergoing planned lung resection at Pusan ??National University Hospital

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with adverse reactions such as allergies related to opioids and local anesthetics, psychiatric or neurological problems that make it difficult to assess subjective pain scores, pain-related diseases, hepatic or renal dysfunction, pregnancy, and previous history of opioid administration were excluded.

Design outcomes

Cumulative PCA dose during and at 1, 6, 24, and 48 hours postoperatively.
