Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: This study was conducted in 128 outpatients aged 60 years or older who were treated in the Department of Psychiatry and diagnosed with major neurocognitive disorder due to Alzheimer’s disease according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5) criteria.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: In this study, patients with vascular dementia, Parkinson’s disease dementia, or severe cardiovascular, endocrine, respiratory, gastrointestinal, renal, or neurological disorders were excluded, as were those with a history of head trauma or brain injury, a history of alcohol or drug abuse, comorbid psychotic disorders or cognitive disorders, or those taking immunomodulators, hormonal agents, anti-inflammatory drugs, cognitive enhancers, neurotropic agents, or ginkgo biloba extract that could affect cognitive function. Patients with acute infections, inflammation, fever, tumors, or allergies were also excluded from the study.
