Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 1. Adults aged 19 to 55 years 2. Diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) according to Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5) criteria, confirmed through a structured diagnostic interview (Mini-International Neuropsychiatric Interview, MINI) 3. Currently experiencing a moderate or greater depressive episode (Hamilton Depression Rating Scale-17 = 17 and Clinical Global Impression – Severity = 4) 4. Voluntarily agreed to participate in the study and provided written informed consent
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: - Psychiatric Criteria 1. History or current diagnosis of schizophrenia spectrum disorder, bipolar disorder, substance use disorder (excluding nicotine), neurocognitive disorder, organic mental disorder, or neurodevelopmental disorder 2. History of major depressive episodes with psychotic features 3. Clinically significant personality disorder 4. Full-scale IQ of 80 or below - Medical/Neurological Criteria 1. Neurological conditions affecting brain function (e.g., head trauma, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, brain tumor, cerebrovascular disease) 2. Recent history of myocardial infarction, heart failure, arrhythmia, or cardiac conduction disorders 3. Presence of metal implants or devices contraindicated for MRI 4. Claustrophobia 5. Current inflammatory disease 6. Pregnant or breastfeeding women
