Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: The selection criteria for the study participants included patients with stroke who were at least six months post-stroke, had a Brunnstrom stage of IV or higher, were able to walk independently for more than 10 min with a cane if necessary, and had a score of 21 or higher on the Korean version of Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE-K), indicating they could communicate and follow instructions.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients were excluded if they had walking difficulties due to orthopedic surgery or disabilities in either lower limb, ankle contractures, walking difficulties caused by conditions other than stroke, vestibular or cerebellar disorders, or visual and auditory impairments.
