Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Males or females aged 20 years or older 2. Patients with no history of taking lipid-lowering medications for at least the past 3 months 3. Individuals with triglycerides (TG) = 80 mg/dL and high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol = 60 mg/dL, or a TG/HDL ratio of = 1 4. For patients with type 2 diabetes, those with carotid imaging within the past 2 years showing less than 50% carotid artery stenosis

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Patients with a history of coronary artery disease (=30% coronary artery stenosis, angina, or myocardial infarction) 2. Patients with a history of atherosclerotic ischemic stroke or transient ischemic attack, or those with corresponding findings on brain imaging 3. For patients with type 2 diabetes, those with carotid imaging within the past 2 years showing =50% carotid artery stenosis 4. Patients with a history of peripheral artery disease, those with imaging findings indicating peripheral artery occlusion, or an ankle-brachial index (ABI) < 0.9 5. Patients with an abdominal aortic aneurysm 6. Individuals deemed ineligible for clinical trial participation by the investigator or those unable to read the consent form (e.g., illiterate individuals, non-native speakers)
