Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: - Girls aged 11 or older who began menstruating at least one year prior, or boys aged 13 or older - Adolescents with all four biological grandparents of East Asian descent (Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Hong Kong, Taiwanese, Mongolian) - Healthy adolescents with a body mass index (BMI) in the 5th–85th percentile [For Additional Participation in Menstrual Pad Questionnaire Validity Study] - Girls who primarily use sanitary pads as their feminine hygiene product

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: - Not started menstruating or started within the last year - At least one biological grandparent not of East Asian descent - Diseases affecting iron metabolism (e.g., gastrointestinal diseases, diabetes, fractures, severe immune system diseases) or taking medications - Unwilling to stop iron supplements for about four weeks, starting two weeks before the experiment - Body mass index (BMI) outside the 5th–85th percentile (underweight or obese) - Smokers - Unwilling to abstain from alcohol two weeks prior to the study - Adolescents with very high physical activity levels (e.g., athletes) - Pregnant or breastfeeding - Severe food allergies or numerous food aversions - Difficulties participating in group activities for two days (e.g., certain mental illnesses) - Planning to move out of Gwangju or Jeollado province within three years or likely to have follow-up difficulties - Experienced significant blood loss (e.g., from donation or surgery) in the past year, received blood transfusions, or plan to donate blood or receive transfusions in the next 2.5 years [For Participation in the Menstrual Pad Questionnaire Validity Study] - Do not use sanitary pads or use them rarely (primarily use tampons or menstrual cups)
