Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: The eligibility screening criteria were as follows: (1) age 40–60 years, (2) irregularities in recent menstrual cycles (except for medical reasons such as medication or surgery), and (3) a final menstrual period within the last 12 months. According to a staging system for female reproductive aging, perimenopause begins with early menopausal transition (defined by changes to the menstrual cycle and hormonal changes) and ends 1 year after the final menstrual period.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Participants diagnosed with bipolar disorders, schizophrenia, alcohol and other substance use disorders, and those who were diagnosed with depression before the menopausal transition were excluded from the criteria.
