Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: The participants in this study resided in a single senior living community and were part of a cohort study targeting older adults with sarcopenia who had not engaged in regular exercise for six months. In the first phase of the study, 500 participants were planned for recruitment; however, 437 were enrolled, and the presence of sarcopenia as well as its associations with various variables were investigated. In the second phase, participants from two senior living communities selected from the initial cohort were randomized in a double-blind manner, resulting in a total of 87 recruits. After excluding 13 participants who did not meet the inclusion criteria, 74 individuals capable of performing forest hiking as an intervention involving resistance and aerobic exercise were allocated, with 37 assigned to the experimental intervention group and 37 to the control group.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: In the 1st study, there are no specific exclusion criteria since participants are pre-screened to match the objectives of the research. However, as stated in the "Research Participant Information and Consent Form," participants have the right to discontinue their participation at any point during the experiment if they no longer wish to be involved. In the 2nd study, participants were excluded if they had undergone weight loss treatments, were taking medications that could influence body composition, or had received surgical interventions more than one year prior to the start of the study. Additionally, individuals with a history of cardiovascular or cerebrovascular disease, cancer, or psychiatric disorders were not eligible for participation.
