Interventions

Drug : Postoperatively, test drug (tranilast) or placebo (cellactose) 100mg is taken three times a day, daily until postoperative 10 months.

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1) Age between 20 - 70 years 2) Informed and agreed to participate in the clinical trial 3) Expected to receive conventional open thyroidectomy due to thyroid disease

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) Patients disqualified to enroll based on the researcher's discretion 2) Intake of aspirin or antiplatelet agent within 7 days of hospital admission 3) Patients expected to undertake modified radical neck dissection 4) Patients with previous head and neck radiation therapy 5) Patients with previous neck surgery history 6) Liver diseases, including liver cirrhosis or liver cancer
