Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: We enrolled patients who underwent MVD for HFS at our institution between June 2021 and March 2022.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: The exclusion criteria were as follows: age <19 years at the time of surgery, history of facial palsy or injections of botulinum toxin within 6 months prior to enrollment, history of MVD or related treatments, secondary HFS due to the presence of an intracranial mass or cyst (as confirmed by brain imaging), underlying diabetes mellitus or amyloidosis causing severe peripheral neuropathy, history of stroke with motor weakness or myoatrophy, neuromuscular junction disease (such as myasthenia gravis), and pregnancy.
