Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. age 20-80 2. elective one side lung surgery under general anesthesia and thoracic paravertebral block 3. elective one side nephrectomy 4. American society of anesthesiologist (ASA) class 1 ~ 3 5. 18.5 kg/m2 < BMI <35 kg/m2 6. lateral position during surgery

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. known allergy to local anesthetic 2. known wound infection or significant inflammation in the surgical site 3. non-minor pleural adhesion 4. pregnancy 5. previous intra-thoracic surgery 6. limited monitoring of pulse oximeter in both hands (2nd or 3rd finger) 7. known pathophysiology that can manifest abnormal perfusion index in upper extremity (e.g. arteriovenous fistula)
